Our impact
We fund sustainable cross-sector partnerships between schools that have identified a mutually beneficial opportunity and an innovative way of delivering it.
We have funded environmental, sports and arts-based partnership projects in schools from Newcastle to Guildford, and provided advice and encouragement to their project leaders. You can read more about some of our most recent partnership initiatives below.
Cross-sector partnership projects we have funded
Swimming Confidence Club
Newcastle
This project increased the swimming confidence of pupils at RGS and 4 Outer West Learning Trust schools. It also built friendships among the pupils. The RGS swimming coaches enhanced their skills set with the support of 30 trainee volunteers from NEP SCITT (Northumbria University accredited). A celebratory swimming Gala took place in July 2023.
Biodiversity Awareness Project
Thames Valley
The Thames Valley Learning Partnership worked with six local schools, from the state and independent sector, in the Slough, Windsor area. We funded visits to RHS Wisley and the provision of trees and bulbs. Every school delivered a sustainable biodiversity themed project at their school.
Corps of Drums Orchestra
Birmingham
We funded musical instruments and tuition for the Tile Cross Academy and Solihull School Partnership as they established a joint Corps of Drums orchestra. Over 30 pupils took part and the joint group performed at an event celebrating the partnership. The Tile Cross musicians have also gone on to perform at an event at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire!
Pathway to Hockey Clubs
London
We recently funded two pathway to hockey projects. Year 5 and 6 state school children in two areas of London, who have not had the opportunity to play regular sport, were coached by Sixth formers at Dulwich College and Ibstock Place School. The student coaches, developed leadership, teamwork and organisation skills as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award by coaching alongside professional coaches.
Primary School Book Club
London
A weekly book club for 60, Year 5 & 6 pupils from a local primary school was run by Sixth Form pupils from King’s College Wimbledon. The club improved literacy and academic confidence in the younger pupils. The sixth form pupils gained leadership, teamwork, organisation and presentation skills.
International Languages Day
Kent
Over 60 pupils in Years 8 & 9 from five state schools attended a foreign languages and culture day at St Edmund’s School Canterbury. We contributed to the costs of the event which 92% of attendees said they enjoyed and 100% wanted to attend further workshops. The accompanying teachers said it was a positive day enjoyed by all.
Senior School Transition Project
Kent
The aim of this project was to increase confidence and reduce anxiety in Year 6 students ahead of moving to their new schools post Covid. Participating schools sent 123 students to take part in an activities week led by Sevenoaks School. Activities included a STEM workshop, obstacle course, team building and an art workshop. Year 7 pupils at Sevenoaks developed peer to peer mentoring skills.
